My new video tutorial present a simple part, where we can learn a how to use CATIA V5 Part Design module to create a spherical surface using Shaft command.
The Rectangular Pattern it’s also a great feature in CATIA, because you can create fast and easy identical features positioned in other positions with same specification light initial feature. For this drawing I used Rectangular Pattern to create the two Ø12 mm holes. You can use also, Mirror command to create a copy of initial feature, but this command is limited to only one duplicate comparative with Rectangular Pattern.
I like to create spherical surfaces using a Sketch with 1/2 of a circle (see the video for more details). You can create an exterior part using Shaft 180°, or using Groove at same rotation value.
Remember, I should create a part using less command if you can, and think how the part is designed using a real machine (CNC or something else). The order of operation it is very important also for later modifications, because CATIA is very powerful in terms of parameterization.
I’m here to respond at any question.
